Movie Mania

Movies are usually a large part of my weekends to be quite honest.  Whether it be the days from renting them or choosing a video on demand.  Netflix, cable and my archive of old DVD'S have me usually up at night watching something of a movie or a documentary.

I prefer such documentaries that are do with crime stories, science or nature, and or Extraterrestrial type shows.  Those fill up the time slots in between movies that I enjoy.  I do get out and accomplish errands and such on weekends, along with a nice brisk walk or some yoga, I just find myself doing more cinefile type activities on the weekends.  However, Mondays are no exception to my movie mania, as it overlaps on long weekends.

Netflix is good as there are so many restrictions to what I can watch on the Internet or what is allowed as per the regulators in Canada, although it's getting better.  I have heard there is a great deal more variety in the US.

It is an escape for that hour and a bit though.  I don't care who you talk to, even the least watched television will have a movie playing at some point.  If it's a good one, you never want it to end.  You pray the villain doesn't get wiped out or the endless love story, is just that, or is this just me?  Perhaps, as I usually root for the underdog teams or villains and wished they could have kept up.

Would I encourage you to watch a great movie or show when you arrive home from a bad day or even on the best day?  Sure why not.  You can prepare for the next day by doing some tasks, then get dinner started, and then perhaps you can choose something to watch or even learn.  Depending on your preferences, and the mood you are in it can turn your day around.

I have been having a little problem with Netflix becoming interrupted, which can be aggravating but I think I fixed the issue with my internet provider.  In general I have completed many movies uninterrupted.  What does anyone else think, do you think Netflix is worth the money or is it a good concept?  Post below.

Sometimes, it can be the cheapest date night, to stay home and watch a movie, so it's great in times we need to save money. :) Have a great week!

New Strategy

Hello.  If you noticed I haven't blogged in a minute........that becomes the usual post from some bloggers who are not posting regularly.  I am laughing because it's me too!

Well, lots was happening all at once, then I was going to double up last Sunday, or something like that, but then I didn't do it and then couldn't get the motivation to make anything happen.  I quit my job last week and yeah............been a on a show for sure.

Many days later I decided  that I would blog in my spare time and since it's half past midnight, this is becoming more sporadic.  I have decided to really do something totally different and hopefully meaningful though and that is "run my own business". Then perhaps do some more schooling but then I also want to jump right in with two feet and pursue my passion of music and art.  I know the skeptics think those things won't make money and that is simply the wrong way to think about life.  If it doesn't make money, does it mean then you are not to do it? More on that later.

I  really wanted to talk about how watching the last episode of Oprah last week, made me bawl my eyes out.  Really and I am going to miss her shows.  She is very inspiring and she finished up the last show on days that I could be watching more of her.  I didn't know it would be her last show and I still cannot believe it's an end of an era, so it seems.  Who doesn't know who Oprah is?

From all of Oprah's accomplishments, she exudes what a real lady should aspire to be by letting no limits define her and caring for people.  Some would say it's fake though, but I got the impression she has such a huge heart.  At least I have the feeling I can accomplish anything I set my mind and hard work towards it after learning and practising some of the lessons I have learnt from her over the years.

So I decided I am going to change my career strategy and work for myself.  I will be working on it this year and hope to enjoy more income from being happy.

Have a wonderful week and I hope the sun is shining~!

Mother's Day Kudos

To all the Mothers today~ kudos, and I don't know how you do it as I have seen mother's in action with their children!!I can barely keep up with myself.  But that is the special stamina a mother has with their children.

Even though I haven't had children, I still find it hard to  keep up with all the demands that life has.  I am always feeling like the clock goes by too fast, and I don't have everything done in time and I am struggling to keep up.  It's a fast paced world or at least in this part of the country.

So Mother's days start even earlier than some and then off to work after getting the kids to school or housework to accomplish.  Then after work, they are not finished or I can head home and get dinner started.   I think I would be wiped out tired, just getting the kids ready.
Selfishness has definitely served me well. I enjoy sleeping in on Saturdays, and I like having a cat that requires minimal supervision,  although he has some health issues at times, he stays home so there is no additional time needed for him in the mornings.  He just needs his water and and to fill up his food bowl.
There has been some times he got us up early with some frantic meowing.  The meowing is starting earlier and earlier in the mornings, but think if I had to get up any earlier to make breakfast for kids, getting everyone ready before I do, and yeah, I would be running late for work everyday!

I have to get my clothes ready for the morning, the night before, everyday, or else I will not get out the door in time. All the tricks I have to get out of the door faster for work, would be totally put to use and then some. Such as, it is so much faster if I don't wash my hair on Friday and put it back into a straight pony tail.  I have a hair washing compulsion, so that is HUGE for me. I enjoy being able to go out where ever I want or have a nap when I have time.

I would think mother's are sleep deprived, and more stressed than I am and I need rest all the time.
I wish you rest and relaxation this Mother's Day because I think mothers are amazing and very sacrificing!!   Happy Mother's Day.

M.I.A. Mondays Blogpost from May 3 ~Doing Nothing

What happened to me last Monday?
OK and I just had an MIA day and was pretty lazy!  Lazy like Garfield on Monday, just how this blog is named.  I slept in a few times and to be honest it was pretty awesome!  This happens to a lot of people when work takes over and then we get burned out and feel like hiding under a rock.

Also it was time to file my 2010 taxes, get in studying and now that I passed with 90's, I am part of  the "green team", but still in coaching and learning my new jobs.  So I have to realize I was not entirely lazy as I'd like to think.  To most that would be productive.  It's going well, so far and I am liking the support that is given with learning my job but that could change any time. hehe

Last week, I skipped out on doing much else except taking inventory and shopping with coupons to take advantage of sales.  I wait for the sale and use the coupon I have, and this way I can stock up my pantry cupboard fairly well and save money.  Someone said that they don't coupon at all and don't worry about the cost of things, but just spends her husband's money which ever way she wants.  I wouldn't call this person smart per say, as I see the value in my dollars and save some money for the time being.  I am not trying to get rich either, I am simply making up for some lost money and this way I break even.  I get some brand name products that I like or just skip using the coupon if I see better prices with the generic brands anyways, so it's not like I do this as a full-time thing.  I just like the feeling of saving a buck or two and making my own sales, as I often do by watching prices too.

But lately, I just want to do nothing these days.  I had a 4 day break the week before the Easter Long weekend.  Sure helped with some much needed rest.  Back in April, we went to an Easter dinner at my MIL'S (Mother In Law) and she is a super cook.  Every type of food like turkey, ham, cabbage rolls, stuffing, potatoes, buns, vegetables, potato salad, gravies and more desserts.  If you take a little bit of each by the time I looked I had stacked up.

Then I usually call family and catch-up to everyone, spent some time on etsy.com, and I enjoyed reading my book on the patio deck.  I won't mention what I read but it is usually something non-fiction.

I want to stop eating pork and then I made a ham in the evening with brown rice and mixed vegetables.  So not sure if it's eating well or but sometimes ham is very tasty to pass up.

Then everyone needs a bit of tlc,,,,, so some much needed spa time marked the end of the weekend.
Soon I will post more about spring gardening and I planted some tomatoes that are sure coming along fast, but they not sure the weather is working with me as there was hard pelting hail to almost destroy my plants. After getting caught in the rain and hail during a walk in the park, I think I was fighting off a cold, as usual feeling tired and lazy by the beginning of the week.

Does anyone else have those days, not depression, not laziness but just blazay??
The rest of my week was pretty productive thankfully. It's time to pay more attention to my gardening, so I may be writing about that in the future blog posts.   I am writing a special Mother's Day post.  Have a great week.

Cutting Off Mondays

Since the coming of spring and better weather, permitted that you are not going into tornado
weather, well, I've been thinking it's time to cut off the T.V. cable or most of it....I think it's time to get outdoors!

It has been snowing for a couple days here, but spring still has me thinking to tuck away the winter gear and come out with my lighter spring clothing.  I will simply have to haul my boots out every now and then if the snow never breaks up. It will be a long weekend for Easter Break so I love it.  I hear the weather should be quite lovely so those people that are with me for the love of spring, shed the woollies and scarfs, and sport some light and bright outfits!

It's time to put out the planter pots and set-up the scheme of your patio or deck...... or look for some new ideas to add to your yard.  I have an over sized balcony which this year I do plan on really focusing on the vegetables and flowers.  I plan to make this my best year ever as I am used to the surprises of the weather
and elements of this region of the city by now.  Some pre-planting indoors is essential to this zone, just to
give the plants a head-start.

I plan to service my mountain bike this upcoming weekend and make sure the tires and such are good to go.  I can certainly test it out on Sunday after eating.  I have some good food to cook up and will make the traditional whipped potatoes, rolls and salads.  It should be succulent!

Speaking of cooking, one may want to catch up on baking as well and store some of the Easter dinner as instant freezer meals.  This is a trick I do to save time during the week back to work after the holiday.
I am a big advocate of freezing my own hungry man meals for my lunches or if I am running late from work and don't have a lot of time to prepare something new for dinner when I arrive home, then just warm up one of your leftover meals.  If you are going to school and have exams it is really handy to have food already prepped and prepared so you can warm it up and keep up with studying.

Anyways, some crafting of Easter eggs is also something that I love for the Easter Weekend. My Grandma taught us how to make the Ukranian ones where you blow out the eggs from a pinhole.  They are certainly lovely afterwards when decorated and you can hang them as well. Take time to make something nice and on that note, I will not be blogging Easter Monday or well Sunday rather it is time to enjoy and take it easy.

So Monday tips will hault for awhile but have a fabulous long weekend Monday!
